What You Think Is What you Get: The Law Of Attraction

The law of attraction is surprisingly simple: Like attracts like. It becomes a bit more complicated when it comes to training our minds to think in ways that will bring what we desire into our lives. The term “self-fulfilling prophecy” describes the same law. This well-known term explains that we create the circumstances our mind dwells upon, whether positive or negative. So our goal is to practice consistent presence of mind to make sure our thoughts are always directed toward the positive and that which we want to create.

A key to the process is the word “frequency.” This is true for two reasons: 1) The frequency you use when you passionately dwell upon or revisit a thought, dream, desire or goal provides the energy your musings need for creation; and 2) just like a radio station broadcasts on a certain frequency, like the radio you must be “tuned in” to receive it. This means preparing for the arrival of your dream on every possible level—material, physical, and spiritual. You don’t have to know how it will come into your life, just trust that it will. Your job is to lay the groundwork, follow any leads you can find, and prepare for its arrival. This can mean cleaning out your garage to make space for a new car, taking a tour of a model home to get the feel of it in order to feed your fantasies, or thinking of what you want in a mate and then living up to that list yourself.

Just like with any skill, the law of attraction must be practiced. We must decide what makes us feel abundant, and use our imagination to create the feeling. It isn’t enough to just want something; you must use the power of your thoughts to attract it. A series of choices is what brings us everything in our lives right now, every moment. When we know the direction we want our choices to take us, it is as if we’ve placed an order with the universe. Then we can await its arrival with joyful anticipation. If we find ways to experience our dreams right now, we make creating joy a treasure hunt in which the seeking is just as much fun as the finding.

Agreements for Inspiration

Don Miguel Ruiz, author of The Four Agreements, gets his ideas from the ancient Toltec wisdom of the native people of Southern Mexico. His well-known 1997 book describes simple ideas that provide an inspirational code for life. Readers interested in personal development, behavior, communications and relationships should consider The Four Agreements.

The Agreements can be summarized as follows:

Agreement 1

Be impeccable with your word - Speak with integrity. Say only what you mean. Avoid using the word to speak against yourself or to gossip about others. Use the power of your word in the direction of truth and love.

Agreement 2

Don’t take anything personally - Nothing others do is because of you. What others say and do is a projection of their own reality, their own dream. When you are immune to the opinions and actions of others, you won’t be the victim of needless suffering.

Agreement 3

Don’t make assumptions - Find the courage to ask questions and to express what you really want. Communicate with others as clearly as you can to avoid misunderstandings, sadness and drama. With just this one agreement, you can completely transform your life.

Agreement 4

Always do your best - Your best is going to change from moment to moment; it will be different when you are healthy as opposed to sick. Under any circumstance, simply do your best, and you will avoid self-judgment, self-abuse and regret.

Life is the coffee.

A group of alumni, highly established in their careers, got together to visit their old university professor. The conversation soon turned into complaints about stress in work and life.

Offering his guests coffee, the professor went to the kitchen and returned with a large pot of coffee and an assortment of cups - porcelain, plastic, glass, crystal, some plain-looking, some expensive, and some exquisite - telling them to help themselves to the coffee.

After all the students had a cup of coffee in hand, the professor said: "If you noticed, all the nice looking expensive cups were taken up, leaving behind the plain and cheap ones. While it is normal for you to want only the best for yourselves, that is the source of your problems and stress."

"Be assured that the cup itself adds no quality to the coffee. In most cases, it's just more expensive and in some cases even hides what we drink. What all of you really wanted was coffee, not the cup, but you consciously went for the best cups & and then began eyeing each other's cups."

"Now consider this: Life is the coffee. The jobs, houses, cars, things, money and position in society are the cups. They are just used to hold and contain life. The type of cup we have does not define nor change the quality of life we live. Sometimes, by concentrating only on the cup, we fail to enjoy the coffee The Universe has provided us."

The Universe (which is of us and that which flows through us) brews the coffee, not the cups . . . enjoy your coffee. Being happy doesn't mean everything's perfect. It means you've decided to see beyond the imperfections.

Live in peace and peace will live in you.

20 Minutes to Health - The DVD

Kung Fu and Tai Chi Grandmaster Leung Shum developed a series of simple daily exercises and recorded them onto DVD for all to learn and practice. The exercises are fantastic for anyone who has little time to work out, is just recovering from an illness or injury and needs a simple routine, or for people who need a quick warm-up just before they engage in strenuous exercise. It would make a great holiday gift.

I watched the DVD and think that most people should be able to engage in these simple and effective exercises. The back bend should be performed with caution especially in people with low back pain because it could compress the spaces in the lower spine. The voice over exercise instruction is clear and concise and the background music is good.

Also, advanced exercises are included. Most of the advanced exercises utilize a technique called ballistic stretching, a.k.a. bouncing. Do not attempt this section unless you have first warmed-up for at least 20 minutes. If the ballistic stretching does not feel right, then do not bounce -- just stretch.

You can purchase the 20 Minutes to Health DVD on www.amazon.com
